Subject: 19709/Agmt/Ham.Co.-Rep.Pkg/Parking Slots Date: Wed, 4 Nov 1992 09:58:00 -0500 RESOLUTION NO. 19709 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ADMINISTRATOR OF THE DEPARTMENT OF SAFETY AND THE CITY FINANCE OFFICER TO ENTER INTO AN AGREEMENT WITH HAMILTON COUNTY AND REPUBLIC PARKING TO PROVIDE FOR SEVEN (7) PARKING SLOTS FOR POLICEMEN AND FIFTEEN (15) SLOTS FOR CURRENT CITY COURT EMPLOYEES IN THE JOINT PARKING GARAGE. FUTURE CITY COURT EMPLOYEES WILL NOT BE GUARANTEED PAID PARKING. FUNDS TO BE DRAWN FROM THE CONTINGENCY ACCOUNT, RETROACTIVE TO DECEMBER 1, 1992, NOT TO EXCEED FIVE THOUSAND, THREE HUNDRED NINETY-THREE AND 08/100 DOLLARS ($5,393.08) FOR THE REMAINDER OF FISCAL YEAR 1992-1993. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHATTANOOGA, TENNESSEE, That the Administrator of the Department of Safety and the City Finance Officer be and are hereby authorized to enter into an agreement with Hamilton County and Republic Parking (or whatever firm manages the Joint Parking Garage supporting the Chattanooga - Hamilton County Courts Building) providing for a total of twenty-two (22) slots to be paid from the Contingency Account, retroactive to December 1, 1992, not to exceed $5,393.08 for the remainder of fiscal year 1992-1993. The slots are to be apportioned as follows: Seven (7) slots will be available for police officers required to appear at the Courts Building on official business. Fifteen (15) slots will be for current City Court employees who now must pay for parking. This corrects a situation caused by the move from the old City Court location near City Hall where most employees were provided parking at no expense. These 15 slots will be reduced through employee attrition if and when those employees leave their jobs at City Court for whatever reason. No new employees (persons not employed at City Court at the time this resolution is passed) will be eligible for paid parking under this resolution and will not be offered such. The City will evaluate annually its ability to continue this payment reflecting the fiscal outlook at the time of the analysis. Cost estimates for this action are as follows: ESTIMATED PARKING FEES FOR 15 CITY COURT EMPLOYEES AND 7 POLICE VEHICLES AT THE JOINT PARKING GARAGE MONTHLY FEE IS $35.02 PER SPACE POLICE USE: 7 SPACES 3D $ 245.14 PER MONTH CITY COURT USE: 15 SPACES 3D $ 525.30 PER MONTH TOTAL PER MONTH: 22 SPACES 3D $ 770.44 DEC 1 THRU END FY 92/93: $5,393.08 POLICE - $1,715.98 CITY COURT - $3,677.10 ANNUAL EXPENSE: $9,245.28 POLICE - $2,941.68 CITY COURT - $6,303.60 NOTE: CITY COURT SPACES WILL BE REDUCED ON AN ATTRITION BASIS AS CURRENT EMPLOYEES LEAVE, WITH NEW EMPLOYEES INFORMED THAT NO PAID PARKING WILL BE PROVIDED.
